Jumper generosity at Smithdon

Our caring students celebrated the end of term by ditching their school uniforms to raise money for not one, but two charitable causes.

All Year groups at Smithdon High School were taking part in Christmas Jumper Day, and swapped their usual school attire for festive knitwear and accessories in support of Save the Children and Norfolk Young Carers, with all proceeds divided equally between the charities.

“Students were invited to wear a festive jumper or festive accessories,” said Deputy Headteacher Sarah Robinson. “We had Christmas trees, Christmas presents and lots of sparkles.”

The school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, has participated in the fundraising appeal before, and we hope to have exceeded our previous total of £300 this year.

Christmas Jumper Day was launched by Save the Children in 2012, and has since generated over £35 million for children around the world. Over two million school pupils and 24,000 workplaces took part in 2022, helping to raise £5 million for the charity.
