Smithdon High School

Business Outreach Programme

Smithdon High School's Business Outreach Programme is about the school working with as many local businesses as we can, in order to build the aspirations of our students and provide a variety of engagement opportunities to widen their awareness of potential future career options.

The businesses, who agree to work with us, offer support to our students in whatever ways suit them, their availability and their expertise: from giving a careers presentation in an assembly, to offering a small-group, targeted talk about the career options to students with an interest in the business area; from offering a work experience placement for one or more students, to giving a tour of the business facilities and potential roles within the business area. We are also hugely grateful to the businesses who have offered their sponsorship for our Weekly Attendance Raffle prize draw.

In return for their support, we offer to reciprocate support by promoting the businesses on our website (here); Tweeting about the events they are involved with, as well as publishing articles in our half-termly newsletter and promoting our collaborations in local newspaper articles on those events.

While we are disappointed that we had to postpone our inaugural Smithdon Careers Fair event for Years 9-11 at the beginning of December, we are planning for this to take place early in 2022 and are currently using our business links to support Year 10 to apply for work experience places for the end of the year. Please check back here for further information in due course.

If you are interested in working with Smithdon High School and feel you can offer opportunities, advice and/or guidance for our students, please contact the office directly on 01485 534541 or office@smithdonhigh.org.uk quoting interest in the Business Outreach Programme.
