Our school takes part in Remembrance Sunday

Two of our students and headteacher Mrs Gibbins represented out school when they laid a wreath at Hunstanton Cenotaph as part of our town’s Remembrance Service held on Sunday.

Head students Olivia Raines and Tommy Lee, who are both in Year 11, attended the event with Mrs Gibbins, who wore medals belonging to her grandfather Horace Haynes. He was from Ten Mile Bank, near Downham Market, and fought at the Battle of the Somme during  the First World War.

Our school lays a wreath at the town’s Cenotaph every year, commemorating those who died in the two World Wars, as well as representing our thoughts being with all those who died in conflicts since then, including those from the school community.

It is hugely important to be involved with the local community’s acts of remembrance, and to remember that we stand, and have stood, alongside the community of Hunstanton for many years.

We  joined other local groups, including the local Royal British Legion, Scouts, Girl Guides, Beavers, St John’s Ambulance, Cadets, RNLI, the American servicemen linked to Hunstanton who marched through the town.
