Smithdon High School

It is a privilege to be the headteacher of Smithdon High School. It truly is a wonderful place to work and learn. Our expectations are high, because we know our students can achieve them and more. Our standards are high because we value positivity and mutual respect. Our positive learning environment challenges students to be the best they can be.

Smithdon High School is also at the centre of the community in Hunstanton and West Norfolk. We will always embrace opportunities to strengthen existing and explore new relationships within our community.

Our buildings are both innovative and modern and create the best facilities for our students to learn and - coupled with an innovative and creative curriculum alongside outstanding specialist staff - achieve.

We will always stand by our core values of "work hard, be kind and smile."

Welcome from Mrs A Gibbins - Head of School

Whether you are a prospective parent or student, or already part of our Smithdon family, I welcome you to Smithdon High School. It gives me great pleasure to be able to invite you to experience Smithdon virtually via our fantastic website – and I look forward to meeting you on one of our tours or many school events.

Having joined Smithdon High School as Deputy Headteacher in 2018 and become Head of School in 2019, I have had the privilege to be part of the school’s recent developments and successes. We are proud of how far we have come already and in the continuing journey that we are all making together. From the first day I visited Smithdon, I was captured by its community feel and the tremendous welcome provided by both students and staff – a welcome that visitors to the school today continue to comment on from their arrival at Reception to their experience on site.

We are passionate that all children are given the same opportunities to succeed, whatever their background and skills, and are instilled with the strength to build on their experiences to become the best version of themselves – and we aim to provide this for every child at Smithdon (also reflecting the aims of the West Norfolk Academies Trust).

With a fantastic, talented staff who develop a strong rapport with our students, supporting them in their journey to educational excellence and to find their individual strengths and interests, each child’s individual journey begins when they become one of our Smithdon community. As such, please let the students themselves do the talking: with our Head Boy and Head Girl Welcome below, and testimonials from students on our Admissions pages.

We welcome you to visit us at any time – please do contact the school office to make an appointment.
