The Library
Smithdon High School Learning Resource Centre is open from 8.30 to 15.20 Monday to Friday for quiet reading and study.
We have recently been refurbished - giving us 21 new PCs which are all connected to the internet. These are available for sixth form use throughout the day. Students in the lower school are able to use them at breaktimes on a first come first served basis and are able to book them at lunchtime. Students are also welcome to play chess during break and lunchtimes.
We also have a new library system which is very user friendly and gives students access to the library resources via lpplus both at school and whilst at home.
The latest fiction from the best sellers lists are available, as well as DVDs and video tapes. Students can request particular favorites. The library also stocks non-fiction books that support the national curriculum, a range of text books, revison guides and some magazines. There is a separate area in the library for English AS courses, including poetry and Shakespeare. There is also an area of books for staff.
