At Smithdon High School we do not underestimate the transition from Year 6 to Year 7; for the parents as well as students!
Our aim is for every student to have a smooth transition so that when they arrive in September they are ready to make progress.
By the end of March in year 6 we will know the names of the students who are lucky enough to be joining Smithdon High School. Our Headteacher personally writes and invites each student into the school for a face to face meeting; this is essential in ensuring a smooth transition as we can learn about each student’s academic progress as well as their interests outside of school.
As part of our transition programme, Year 6 students will bring along their best written work from their primary school so that we can plan to build on what students can already do. Students also spend time with us towards the end of Year 6 so that they are raring to go in September.
If you would like to know more about your child joining Smithdon High School, come along to our Open events in September or contact the school office for a tour.
